Since being on the east coast, there's been a lot of rainy days lately. I am not used to it since I live in the desert in Phoenix, Arizona. It's been kind of hard maintaining motivation when it's been ugly and cold outside. While being out of the desert, I have come up with a couple ideas to still enjoy my day even though it's ugly out.

Making the most out of your situation can sometimes be easier said than done. When you find yourself in that predicament you can always use this list. I know when I am bored, I rely on lists like these myself. It's important to try to enjoy yourself despite the situation for your own sanity.

1. Open your window
Open your windows and smell the rain. There's nothing more comforting than watching the rain at times. I don't know about you but I love the smell of rain. There's a reason why rain noises can be so comforting and you can find them on most noisemakers to try to sleep. It's a very calming noise. With that being said, take advantage of the natural noise of the rain right outside your window. It can be very healing.

2. Snuggle up in some warm pajamas or blankets.
The fuzzier the blanket or pajamas the better. Here are some great examples. (Click on the examples to order)

3. Cook your favorite comfort meal
Personally, on rainy days I like to make soup. Or mashed potatoes and baked chicken. Stew is great too. Basically, anything you associate as a comfort meal. Baking can always make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside too.

4. Brew a nice warm cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or hot apple cider
The key is to stay warm and cozy. I love holding a nice mug full of something warm when it's cold outside. Pair it with a cute coffee mug.

5. Snuggle up with a good book
You know I am always down to encourage others to read.

6. Have a nice hot bath
Create your own mini spa day at home. It's super relaxing and a stress reliever. Deep conditioning your hair is one of my favorites. Or using a face mask.

7. Give yourself a manicure or pedicure
I love having freshly painted nails. Plus, doing manicures and pedicures can be so satisfying but also a time-waster.

8. Binge watch anything on the tv
Who doesn't love a good Netflix binge? Check out 20 Shows Worth Watching On Netflix to find out what to watch. Or All Things Movies: 10 Movie Recommendations if you would rather watch a movie instead.

9. Play some board games.
Board games are always fun no matter how old you get. Here are some of my favorites:

10. Clean the house or get laundry done
Everyone needs to clean or get laundry done. No shame. Take advantage of the day inside and get some good cleaning done. Organize your closet or dresser drawers. Get rid of stuff that you do not need. Cleaning is always super satisfying once you are all done. Then, you won't have to worry about cleaning for the next couple of days. Cleaning is the best time waster when you are bored.

11. Do a DIY or make a mood board
If you are a crafty person take some time to do something creative.

12. Go through your phone or computer and clean out old photos and apps
When I need a good time waster... I always clean out things from my phone and make more room in my memory. It's good to clean out your phone or computer sometimes.

13. Read some magazines
I love reading magazines to waste time. Celeb gossip or fashion magazines have always been my favorite.

14. Plan out your week ahead
Plan your week in advance while you have the extra time. It's always good to try and stay productive.

15. Take up knitting, sewing, or crochet
Make your own blanket. I have always found knitting and sewing to be super relaxing. I personally could never figure out crochet.

16. Write anything
Start a story or your own novel. Maybe even your own blog?

17. Play a video game
Games are always a good time waster and super fun when you are bored.

18. Plan out your next vacation
It's important to get excited about something... vacation planning takes lots of time and focus. Why not get it done while you can? Or research places that you would like to go to and how much it will cost to go there. Budget a plan to save money that way you can make the vacation happen one day.

19. Take a much-needed nap
Who doesn't love sleeping? If you need something to pass the time then sleeping is the best way how. Plus, it's much needed for your mind and body.

20. Listen to some music, audiobook, or podcast
All of these are great options when trying to make the time pass. Here are FIVE AUDIOBOOKS I LOVED & FIVE I’M EXCITED TO LISTEN TO

21. Play or snuggle with your pet
Your pet loves you so much. Return the love and have some fun with your best furry friend. Playing with your pet can be a lot of fun. It's good exercise playing with your pet. Plus, the exercise is good for your furry friend too. Your pet needs attention and will be very grateful for it. I love bonding with my dog.

I hope some of these ideas will help you next time it rains and you don't know what to do. It's supposed to rain again this week... That's why it's so green in Pennsylvania. We get lots of rain. I love the rain but after a couple of days of it... I tend to get sick of it. My depression is greatly affected when I don't see the sun for a couple days. My depression is affected in the desert too though when there's too much sun. There's no perfect medium.

What do you like to do when it's raining outside?

I would love to know in the comments down below. Let me know if you try any of the tips above.

xoxo,
