I originally had a Mercari profile back in 2015 on Mercari that I never used or tried to sell things on. Now, I am using this same account that I previously had to start a mini flipping business with. I have flipped items on eBay, Depop, and Poshmark, and now I am trying Mercari because I need to declutter badly in my house. Plus, I love thrifting in general and why not try to make some money on it? Your girl loves to shop.

Therefore, I have decided to start a whole new blog series on reselling online and thought I would document with ya'll how much I end up making and maybe throw in some seller tips along the way for my reader's so that if you guys ever wanna try to do the same thing as me we can help each other learn along the way. Plus, I just like documenting everything.

So far, I have made $8.37 on two sales.

Follow my Mercari Profile I would appreciate any support you may have for me on this new endeavor.

How much money do you make on Mercari?
On Mercari, a selling app that has over 45M downloads where people buy and sell items. (According to Mercari, the average U.S. seller on Mercari makes $114 per month, which is about $1,300 per year.). This is a great way to bring in some extra bucks or money you could use towards paying off other bills or even for vacation! Plus, it's super easy.

What makes Mercari Unique?

There are over $100,000,000 in transactions alone that take place on Mercari each month. The platform is similar to Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Depop, Poshmark, and other selling platforms. I have used all of these platforms before and so far Mercari has become one of the easier platforms to use in my opinion. My least favorite so far has been Poshmark.
What I Plan on Selling
Anything, lol. However, my passions for thrifting include books, clothing, handbags, and decor for your house. So, you will probably see mostly those things on my page. I also tend to get tons of free makeup/beauty products because I am a licensed cosmetologist and I am constantly being given products to try or at discounted prices because I can use my license to buy wholesale items. I sometimes buy way too much stuff. I have a little beauty product addiction. Therefore, you will be seeing lots of cosmetology-related items and all things hair, skin, and nails.
What does Mercari make when you sell an item?
The site charges a 10% commission on sales, plus a $2 processing fee for direct deposits under $10. There’s also a $2 fee if a direct deposit transfer is rejected by your bank. So, I would wait to cash out your balances/sales until you have at least $10 added up that way you do not get charged that processing fee.

Sellers on Mercari don’t get paid until the buyer “rates” the seller and the seller rates the buyer. However, if the buyer doesn’t rate the seller within three days of the item being delivered, Mercari’s system will trigger payment anyway. Thank goodness. Either way, after an item sells you should never have to wait more than three days to receive your payment for an item sold. This is one thing I like about Mercari over other apps/sell websites is that the payout is a lot faster after you sell an item. It makes making money a whole lot easier and faster.

Mercari Fee Summary

  • 0 listing fee for items.
  • 10% final sale value fee.
  • 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing fee.
This is a lot cheaper than other seller apps. Plenty of people flip stuff for a living so why not me?

Well, once I sell more items I will be sure to let all my readers know some of my profits etc from selling on Mercari. As well as tips and things I learn along the way selling items online. I may also try cross-posting on other platforms like eBay and Depop if my items do not sell fast enough.
Do you sell online? If so, what platforms do you use? I mainly use Pangobooks to sell all of my books. Check out that profile here if you are interested in buying some of my books.

xoxo,
