In Amy Poehler’s highly anticipated first book, Yes Please, she offers up a big juicy stew of personal stories, funny bits on sex and love and friendship and parenthood and real life advice (some useful, some not so much), like when to be funny and when to be serious. Powered by Amy’s charming and hilarious, biting yet wise voice, Yes Please is a book full of words to live by.
A humorous look into Amy Poehler's life.
Amy Poehler has always been one of my favorite comedians. I listened to the audiobook for this book and I highly suggest doing it that way. Listening to the audio version is the best way to read the book as Amy narrates it herself. There were parts that I laughed out loud! It made the story so much funnier listening to Amy's narration and story with her voice.

Before reading the book, I knew very seldom about her or her life other than being on SNL. She delves into her relationship with Tina Fey which I enjoyed hearing about. Also, hearing about her marriage and divorce gave great insight into relationships. The book tended to drag at parts and I became bored many times while reading. She offered a lot of advice about life. At the time, I needed an easy read and this was just that. I enjoyed the celebrity name dropping! It was interesting to see Amy's opinions.

The book is nothing Earth-shattering. It was just something fun to read. The fact that Amy can laugh at herself is pretty refreshing to read. I got the impression that she's a pretty down to earth person. This made me very happy to read. Overall, it's a pretty average memoir. I, unfortunately, wasn't blown away. I still appreciate Amy Poehler and liked seeing a little bit inside her world.
